Mario PIVA Obituary
After a courageous and dignified battle, surrounded by his loving family on August 9, 2012 at 65 years of age. Cherished and devoted husband of Sharon for 42 years (nee Loosemore). Beloved father of Michael (Melissa) Piva and David Piva. Adored grandfather of Tarissa, Ashley, Joyce, Michael and Nate. Dearest son of the late Fiore and Carmela Piva and son-in-law of Peggy and the late Arthur Loosemore (2011). Dear brother of Angelo (Barbara) and Arminio (Jo-Ann) Piva and brother-in-law of Ron (Sandra) and Rick Loosemore. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Mario retired as District Chief after 35 years of service with the Windsor Fire Department. He was a member of the Sun Parlor Boat Club and Park Haven Boat Club for many years. If you so desire, Donations to Windsor Hospice or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Visitation Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Monday 12:30 p.m. from

Recent news of the passing of Mario has brought tears of sadness; words cannot express how great of an impact he made on my life and career.
Sharon, our deepest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of a devoted husband, father and mentor. Mario was a gentleman who left his mark on all who had the pleasure to know him, he truly was an exceptional man who believed in family first and devotion to the community he so proudly serviced as a firefighter. Sharon - I am so sorry to hear of your loss - You were both so welcoming when I went to visit Darryl at the Marina - I still chuckle when I remember Mario surrendering his vest and leaving me in charge of security - Thankfully it wasn't for very long! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family - He was truly a remarkable man!

Mrs. Piva and family, Please accept my sincere condolences. Mario was my very first captain I was assigned to at Station #2 in April of 2003 when I began with Windsor Fire and Rescue. He was a great teacher and mentor. He was passionate about the job and left a huge impression on me. God Bless you and may Mario Rest in Peace. So sad....
