GILLINGHAM, Cyril Robert
96 years. Went home to be with Jesus on February 10, 2013. Known as Bill or "The Brigadier," he served God as a Salvation Army Officer (Minister) for 45 years. Beloved husband of the late Ivy (1987) and the late Doreen (2012). Loving father of Joan Steer (John), Shirley Freeman (late Charles), Marjorie Preston and Lillian French. Cherished grandpa of Fred Preston (Jerilee), Derek Freeman, Dara-Lynn Gerard (Charles), Alena Trepanier (David), Alison Massam (Anthony), Carolyn Simpson (Michael), Jeffrey Freeman (Melissa) and dearest great- grandpa to 15 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Reg (Ethel) and predeceased by his brother Clif. Will be missed by brother-in-law Jim Veitch (Evelyn) and sister-in-law Grace Waldie (Henry). Bill devoted his entire life to serving his Lord, with special focus on Missions and Visitation. Friends may call at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre, 1969 Wyandotte St. E., on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of his life will be held in the chapel on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., Major Ralph Young officiating. Burial to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army Eastwood Citadel or to the Salvation Army Eastwood Citadel Partners in Mission. A special thank you to the staff of The Village of Aspen Lake and to the staff of 4 North Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus.
