VOLLMER, Joan (nee Hopf)
With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Joan Ann Vollmer on November 28th, 2013, at 76 years of age. Loving wife for 57 years to John Vollmer. Cherished & devoted mother of Diane Vollmer-Doster (Dean), Stephen (Nori Pessotto), and Bradley (Darlene Rousseau). Treasured grandmother of Courtney & Ashley Doster, Rachel & Lauren Vollmer and Bryan, Jenna, Alec, Elle & Bradley Vollmer. Predeceased by her parents Gerald & Bernice Hopf. Sister to Patricia Martin and Judith Hopf. Sister in law of Margaret Gotchling, Lillian Morris, Frances & Ron Gemmel and predeceased by Sr. Muriel Vollmer, Kathleen & Bernie Irvin and Jim Morris. Aunt to many nieces & nephews. Special friend of Xiomara Mora. Joan's life centered on her family for which she will always be lovingly remembered and never forgotten. Her nature was truly loving and generous. Family gatherings, cooking, baking (notably her special birthday cakes and cookies), playing bridge with friends, reading (especially detective novels), attending the theatre and travel were Joan's sources of great joy. Joan was an active member of the Engineering Institute of Canada Ladies Auxiliary for 35 years and through this organization made many wonderful friends who enriched her life. Over the years she volunteered for a number of organizations whose primary goals were helping and caring for others. As well, she has been a generous patron to numerous charities. If so desired memorial donations may be made to the Windsor & Essex County Alzheimer's Association. Visiting Sunday 3-5 & 7-9 pm with prayers at 4:30 pm at
