James Edward "Bill" CHATMON

CHATMON WINSTON-SALEM James Edward "Bill" Chatmon Dec. 30, 1929 - May 12, 2012 Mr. James Edward "Bill" Chatmon, 82, entered the presence of his Savior on May 12, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 30, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late William Edward Chatmon and Nell Jones Chatmon. Bill grew up in the West Salem neighborhood and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was very involved with Faith Missionary Alliance Church, Piedmont International University, and Salem Baptist Church for many years. One of his greatest joys was providing auction services to the community for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Miriam A. Chatmon. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Catherine L. Chatmon. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Salem Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Wilburn and the Rev. Dexter Kirby officiating. A private family burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the scholarship fund at Piedmont International University (formerly Piedmont Baptist College), 420 S. Broad St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or Rev.
