Allan Beegle Obituary

BEEGLE WINSTON-SALEM - Allan Beegle of Winston-Salem, N.C., passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011. He was 61. Mr. Beegle was a popular math teacher at Bishop McGuinness High School for several years before joining the faculty of Mineral Springs Middle School in 2004. One of the greatest challenges he faced as a math teacher was trying to help his own daughter understand algebra. He taught her to drive, but was never able to help her comprehend how two letters could equal a number. Born in New Martinsville, W.V., Mr. Beegle loved Mountaineers football almost as much as he loved Mr. Bee Potato Chips. He was an avid golfer and savior to stray cats. He planned to retire this June to join his wife, already retired in Buckeye, AZ. When he left this earth, he was smiling, surrounded by his loving wife, Susan Beegle of Buckeye, AZ; daughter Kim Leavitt of Nashville, TN; and two younger brothers, Denny Beegle and Scott Beegle, both of Sistersville, WV. He is survived by three additional brothers, Terry "Doc" Beegle of Sardis, OH; Vic Beegle of Paden City, WV; and Dale "Pike" Beegle of Sistersville, WV. He was preceded in death by his mother Jean Beegle. His father, Gene Beegle, passed away recently on January 1, 2011. In lieu of a funeral, Mr. Beegle asked that donations be made to no-kill animal shelters. A private memorial will be held for family later this year, where Mr. Beegle's ashes will be mixed with Mr. Bee Potato Chips and sprinkled on a golf course in West Virginia. I worked beside Allan at Mineral Springs Middle School for my entire tenure there and respected his mathematical knowledge and the skill with which he taught his students. He had the ability to put math lessons in terms understandable to his students and could give everyday examples that immediately made the concepts clear and easy to grasp. With his daily witticisms, he kept teaching fun. Sue and Kim, please know that others will miss him too.

Mr. Beegle's class at Bishop McGuinness was one of my favorites. He was the only teacher I ever had who called his students Mr. and Ms. Thinking back on it, that is pretty special. I loved his sense of humor, and he was an excellent teacher. My thoughts are with his family.

Coach Beegle was a wonderful person. He coached both of my daughters in volleyball and softball at Bishop McGuinness. No matter what the girls did, I never saw him get upset. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Beegle taught my daughter math at Bishop. I really respected and admired him as a teacher. He always seem cheerful no matter what the day. I don't know why but for some reason he always reminded me of Captain Kangaroo. Which is a good thing because when I was growing up I loved Capt. Kangaroo because he made everyone happy... so maybe that is why I had those memories.
You and your family will be in our prayers. Know that his legacy will always carry one in all the children he touched as a teacher

Coach Beegle was a wonderful teacher and coach! He helped me not only in math (which I very much disliked) but also in sports. He will be missed but we will never forget his jokes nor memories made. My favorite was always " now if that was a biscuit you would have caught it"...I will miss you!! My thoughts and prayers are with you Susan and Kim-

"If A equals B, and B equals C, then A equals C. Cha-cha-cha."

He was a good teacher and a good guy. I'll remember him as sitting in the doorway overlooking the old gym, watching basketball games with a bucket of fried chicken.

I was very fond of Allan as an employee of Hearn Graphic Finishing,Inc. formerly H.T. Hearn Engraving. He added much levity to our crew even though he worked part time while attending School.
I am very saddened by his loss and will hold fond memories of his interaction with our people.

May God hold you in His arms and show you His plan!
