BRAUNS PLEASANT GARDEN Brian Phillip Brauns July 31, 2012 Brian Phillip Brauns, beloved son, brother, "favorite" uncle and nephew, passed away on July 31, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. His courage was an inspiration to all. He was born in NJ and lived there until he moved to Pleasant Garden, NC at the age of 12. He was a 1984 graduate of SE Guilford High School, Greensboro, NC. He received a Bachelor's degree from NC State University in 1988 and in 1991 a law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He moved to Anson County, NC to practice law and after several years opened his own practice. In 2004 he became an Assistant District Attorney and served in that position for several years. In 2007, Brian moved to Kernersville to serve as a Magistrate in Forsyth County where he remained until December 2010. Brian was predeceased by his mother, Rosemary Morgan Brauns; his niece, Shannon Rose Hurley; grandparents, Frank and Magdalene Brauns, Joseph and Margreth Morgan and Elsie Andes Hoffman. He is survived by his parents, Fred and Judith Brauns of Pleasant Garden, NC; sisters Laura Brauns Hurley (Tom), Donna Brauns Brashear (Ron) and brother, Greg Brauns (Marcia) all of Raleigh; and brother Frank Brauns (Libby) of Sterling, VA. Also surviving are his nephews Andrew, Derek, Cameron and Tyler and nieces Hilary, Miranda, Kris-ten, Reagan, Alana, Gabrielle and Madison. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 7, 2012 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2200 North Elm St., Greensboro where he was a member. Interment will immediately follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Homes of NC Inc., PO Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450 where Brian servedon the board, or to The V. Foundation for Cancer Research, 106 Towerview Ct., Cary, NC 27513
