SPRINKLE HIGH POINT - Mrs. Edna Pauline "Polly" Ferguson Sprinkle, 78, of High Point, passed away October 2, 2008 at the Hospice Home at High Point after a year of declining health. Polly was born on May 23, 1930 in Haywood County to Leila Ramey Ferguson and James Vernon Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father, Lawrence Samuel Tipton and her daughter, Kathy. In 1949, she married William Ross Sprinkle and had three children. Prior to having children, she worked for Sears, Inc as a switchboard operator. Upon raising her children, she returned to work at the family business, Sprinkle Feed Mill in Wallburg, where she worked until her retirement in 1986. She was a devoted and loving mother who cared for her handicapped daughter until her death two years ago. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. She will best be remembered for her loving nature and compassion for others. Surviving are her husband, William "Bill", who resides at their home; a son, Bill and his wife, Lu Jean of Winston-Salem; her son, Danny of High Point; a sister, Evelyn White and her husband, Richard of Asheville; a brother, Dr. William Clay Ferguson of Winston-Salem; and a brother, Stephen Andrew Tipton and his wife, Carol of Indianapolis, IN. Memorial Services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Upchurch and Rev. Mike Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Shady Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 167 Shady Grove Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or Hospice Home at High Point 1803 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262 or Saint Jude' s Children' s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
