TRUSCOTT WINSTON-SALEM Jane Worrill Truscott Sept. 4, 1923 - Feb. 11, 2013 Jane Worrill Truscott, 1244 Arbor Rd., died Monday, February 11, 2013 at age 89. She was born September 4, 1923 in Columbus, Georgia to James Harper and Elizabeth Hood Worrill. From the age of 2 until her marriage her home was in Leesburg, Florida. She graduated from Sullins College and Florida State University, and received her master's degree from Yale University. She was a Public Health Nurse in New Haven, Connecticut and was on the Nursing School Faculty of Duke University. Mrs. Truscott was a faithful volunteer in her field for her entire life. She was a volunteer nurse and nurse instructor with the American Red Cross for 30 years, and served as a board member as well. She was the first female chairman of the Forsyth County Board of Health, and served on the board and as chairman of the Forsyth County Public Health Nurses Association. She also served on the Medical Center Auxiliary Board and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a frequent volunteer at Arbor Acres where she lived for 27 years and always had a friendly smile for everyone she met. She was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church, serving on the board and as a member and president of the Clay-Chandler Bible Class. She was an active member of several circles. She was a member of Forsyth Country Club. Mrs. Truscott was preceded in death by her husband Dr. B. Lionel Truscott in 1992. She is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Hood Truscott (Winston-Salem, NC), a son, Thomas R. Truscott and his wife, Helen E. Harrison (Durham, NC), a granddaughter, Elizabeth Worrill Campbell (Morrisville, NC) and grandson Harrison Hood Truscott (Durham, NC). A memorial service will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Arbor Acres at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013. Memorials may be sent to Centenary United Methodist Church or to Arbor Acres.
