Salzman, Mary M.  
Salzman, Mary M. Mary Mae Salzman, age 88, passed away peacefully at Ministry St. Joseph's Palliative Care, Marshfield, on Thursday, July 21, 2016, with her family at her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Milladore, with Father John Ofori-Domah officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Martens/Rembs Funeral Home, Junction City, is assisting the family. Mary Mae was born June 15, 1928, in Sherry, the eldest child of the late Elmer and Mary (Spice) Whitney. As a child, she was always proud to be her father's helper on his farm and carried that hard work ethic through life. She attended Sherry Grade School and graduated from Auburndale High School. Mary Mae was married to Melvin Salzman at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore on her birthday in 1948. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1998. He died on June 11, 2001. Mary Mae was very active at St. Kilian's Catholic Church. For many years she was the church organist, a CCD teacher, and oversaw the Senior Hot Lunch Site. She loved flowers, birds and cooking. Her greatest passion was her family. She was a full-time stay-at-home mom to her children. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Grandma Minnie", a name she was very proud of having. After meeting Mary Mae, Philippine artist Von Mendoza was inspired to paint "Grandma Minnie Roses", an artwork to honor Mary Mae's beautiful flower gardens and her gracious nature. Survivors include her children, Phill (Sandy) of Bartlesville, OK, Steve of Arpin, Carol (John) Hrusovszky, Junction City, daughter-in-law Tabitha (Bart) Forman of Marshfield, sisters Arlene Salzmann, Junction City, and Linda Lou Koplien, Sherry. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Mary (husband Derrick Sorenson) Hrusovszky, Wisconsin Rapids, Brenda Wolosek, Stevens Point, Robin Flatoff, Mosinee, three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and her beloved cat, Zak. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, two sons, Dennis and Chris, one grandchild, Alan Flatoff and her brother, Edmund Whitney. The family will designate a memorial in Mary Mae's name to Mary's Place in Marshfield. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com

Scamfer, Robert C. Robert C. Scamfer, age 86, of the Town of Rome, passed away Friday July 22, 2016 at his residence. A memorial visitation for Robert will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post #9 at 6:00 PM. Online Condolences may be expressed at ritchayfuneralhome.com . Robert was born on November 24, 1929 in Washburn, Wisconsin to the late E.C. and Carrie (Strom) Scamfer. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954. He married Kathleen Anderson on August 10, 1957 in Washburn, WI. Robert received his Bachelor's degree from Northland College in Ashland, WI before continuing on to earn two Master's degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He taught high school for one year in Grantsburg, WI and ten years in Elkhorn, WI. He moved to Nekoosa where he was the principal at Nekoosa High School and Humke Elementary for 18 years. He ended his career in education as the superintendent of schools in Nekoosa. He retired in 1989. Robert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathy, his children Lori Wormet, Diane (Mike) Glodosky and Lynne Gebert, grandchildren Stephanie Dierson, Gwen Wormet, Chris (Pam), Caroline, and Teresa Glodosky, Jaime (Fiancé Waylon Haemer) Melissa and Nick Gebert, great-grandchildren Taylor and Skylar Varney and Ayven and Norah Haemer. He is further survived by his nephew Eric (Isa) Scamfer and niece Katie Laude. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Brother Richard (Dorie) Scamfer, son-in-law Greg Wormet, and Jesse Varney. Robert loved to golf, enjoyed reading, and watched sports with his favorites being the Packers and Brewers. On a daily basis, his favorite thing to do was to enjoy his coffee while doing his crossword puzzles. He was a member of the Nekoosa Lion's Club for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was a loving father and husband. He enjoyed his weekly golf outings with his friends and couples. He was a lucky man in that he hit a hole-in-one, not just once but twice! Robert and Kathleen spent many years wintering in California, Arizona and Florida. That extended golf season tremendously. In earlier years, much time was spent as a family in Iron River, WI. Robert and his brother, Richard, built a cabin there. Robert and Richard spend many hours tossing their children in the lake for hours on end. They all became great swimmers because of it. His favorite song was "Evergreen" by Barbara Streisand. He was a man that would help others out whenever needed. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Shulfer, Grace M. Grace M. Shulfer, age 72, of Amherst Jct., WI, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Atrium of Stevens Point. She was born October 12, 1943 in the Town of Alban, WI; daughter of Leon "Leo" and Esther (Wroblewski) Kaminski. In January 1968, Grace married Leroy Shulfer at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Rosholt, WI. She will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and friends. Grace is survived by her husband: Leroy Shulfer of Amherst Jct., WI; four sons: Patrick Shulfer of Amherst Jct., WI, Dale (Paula) Shulfer of Amherst Jct., WI, David (Charlotte) Shulfer of Iola, WI, and John Shulfer of Amherst, WI; grandchildren: Jeena, Kenny, Giovanni, Bryan, and John; brothers and sisters: Felix Kaminski of Rosholt, WI, Alice (Alfred) Rekowski of Rosholt, WI, Benny (Geraldine) Kaminski of Polonia, WI, Marian Schultz of Stevens Point, WI, Celia (Edward) Konkol of Amherst, WI, Leonard Kaminski of Wausau, WI, Leona (Earl) Drefcinski of Stevens Point, WI, Theodore Kaminski of Elderon, WI, Rosaline Kaminski of Rosholt, WI, and Michael Kaminski of Rosholt, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jeanette Kaminski of Polonia, WI, Dorothy Shulfer of Amherst, WI, Lorraine Shulfer of Milwaukee, WI, Delphine Shulfer of Amherst, WI, Donald (Hazel) Shulfer of Amherst, WI, Arlene (Jim) Koehl of Amherst, WI. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Esther Kaminski; one brother, Andrew Kaminski; five brothers-in-law, James Schultz, Gregory Shulfer, Richard Shulfer, Leonard Shulfer, and James Domaszek; and two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Kaminski and Barbara Kaminski. A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church - Fancher in Amherst, WI. Father Dan Hackel will preside. A visitation will be held on Sunday evening, July 24, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM. A visitation will also be held on Monday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery following the mass on Monday. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.

Smith, Josephine  
Smith, Josephine Josephine Marie Smith, age 94, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Tuesday morning, July 26, 2016 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards. Services will be 12:00 P.M. on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Port Edwards. Rev. David Guse will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the church. Josephine was born September 9, 1921 in Rochelle, Illinois to Rosel and Ethel (Arbogast) Coe. She married Wilbur Smith on August 15, 1942 in Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2002. Josephine worked as a bookkeeper in her husband's business and later as a respiratory therapist at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. Josephine was a talented artist whose greatest passion was painting and being able to capture her visions on canvas to live on throughout time. She was an avid reader and a skilled seamstress. Josephine loved dancing, traveling and having family parties. She was a huge Jimmy Buffett and Elvis fan. Josephine was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Port Edwards where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed volunteering at the Lowell Senior Center and singing in the Belles and Beaus Choir. Josephine is survived by seven children: Scott Smith, Ben (Jane) Smith, Stuart Smith and Jo Marie Timmerman all of Wisconsin Rapids, Wilbur Smith, Mark (Marie) Smith of Advance, Missouri and Cynthia LaBarge of Eau Claire; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Coe of Port Ritchey, Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbur, son James Smith and sisters, Helen and Francis.
