Eldyn G. "Dutch" Scheunemann

Eldyn G. "Dutch" Scheunemann, 96 of Pittsville died on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Bethel Center in Arpin.

Memorial services will be 5:30pm Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville with Rev. Milton Van Natta officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Vesper at a later date.

Family will receive relatives and friends from 5pm until service time.

Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home of Pittsville is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Eldyn was born on August 9, 1916 in Elba, WI, Dodge County to Erick and Della (Hoffmann) Scheunemann. He was baptized in Columbus, WI by P.H. Koch, an Evangelical Lutheran Pastor.

He moved with his family to the Arpin area where he attended the Powers Bluff School and graduated in 1930. As a young man, he helped on the family farm and did various jobs until he started employment at the Star Line, Inc. in Harvard, IL as a power shear operator.

Eldyn was drafted in the United State Army on January 17, 1944 in Chicago and was honorably discharged on May 29, 1946 after serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.

After his military duties, he was employed at Consolidated Papers, Consoweld Plastic both in Wisconsin Rapids and later retired as a carpenter.

He is survived by his sister Ruth DuPree of Vesper, sister-in-law Marvel Scheuenmann of Arpin, four nephews, James and John DuPree, Daniel and James Scheunemann; five nieces, Gail Van Natta, Pamela Berdan, Sharon La Vigne, Cheryl Johnson and Sandra Bronk.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Edward and Donald Scheuenmann; one sister Arna Gaetke; two brothers-in-law Kenneth DuPree and Wilbur Gaetke and a niece Susan Parker.
