Shirley enjoyed sharing her passion and interests with everyone. She always enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's activities. While living in the Kenosha area, Shirley was very active in the Wesley United Methodist Church, Kenosha, Wisconsin. She continued to be very involved with many community groups including: PTA President with Kenosha schools, for many years, ladies church groups, and the Kenosha Band Organization. She continued her community involvement when she moved to the Adams area. She lived in her lake home and continued to care for patients in the community. She was involved with the local Moundview Memorial Hospitals and Clinics Partners for many years. She was also a member of the Lions Club and the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church. Shirley also encouraged her children, grandchildren, and many others to enjoy her love of cooking, reading, music, and compassion for animals. Not a soul left her home unnourished. Shirley's compassion and patience was very evident in her actions and ever enduring love for her family and friends. Shirley has finally made her glorious journey home to share the glories of heaven with her love and husband, Byron. Shirley was grateful for the love and support of her family, friends, and many caregivers during this journey. She passed peacefully and ever proud of the love and commitment from her children and grandchildren who were by her side at that moment and through the many years. She was also eternally grateful to so many who had tended to her both in her home and at the Villa Pines Living Center during her remaining years. Her vibrant outlook and joy for life will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the Villa Pines Living Center staff and caregivers, Pastor Terri Skildum of Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church, and Pastor Brian Schmidt of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Adams for the continuous care, love, and support for Shirley and her family. Your visits, conversations, and many involvements with Shirley did not go unnoticed and comforted the family knowing Shirley was never alone and always content with her experiences.
