Woods, Violet River
Violet River Woods, age 35 of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away in her home on Saturday, October 12, 2013 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Chaplain Bob Linaberry-Charis will officiate, burial will take place in Union Cemetery in Milladore, WI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
Violet was born in Tahlequah, OK to Rita Blair and Chris Woods on January 30, 1978. Violet grew up in Bixby, OK and graduated as salutatorian from Bixby High School. She went on to college at Vanderbilt University
in Nashville, TN before transferring to the University of Minnesota
to earn a bachelor's degree in Child Psychology. She furthered her education by earning a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and also pursued a doctoral degree in Counselor Education from Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN.
Violet married Christopher "Kit" Ruesch on May, 15 2010 at Keystone Park in Manford, OK.
Violet touched many lives working as a counselor and assisting people in need as a resource coordinator. Most recently, she enjoyed helping customers and working with her colleagues at Family Natural Foods in Wisconsin Rapids.
Violet had a passion for the arts and enjoyed spending her time pursuing a variety of artistic endeavors including playing the piano and clarinet, singing, painting, sketching, sewing, and photography. She was an avid moviegoer, and enjoyed watching a wide array of films. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially sharing her final months with her baby boy, Harry.
Violet is survived by her husband Kit Ruesch, and son Harry Ruesch of Wisconsin Rapids; mother Rita Blair, Bixby, OK; father Chris (Colleen) Woods, Elk Grove, CA; brother Noah Buckner, Gardiner, MT; aunt Gwen Woods, Tulsa, OK; cousins Courtney Blair and Cody Blair, both of Houston, TX as well as many other cousins, aunts and uncles. In addition, Violet is survived by father and mother in-law Paul and Barbara Ruesch, Milladore; brothers in-law Evan Ruesch, Milladore; Ned Ruesch, Milladore; Karl (Alissa) Ruesch, Sheboygan; sister in-law Alyssa (Laurent) Bonnac of Minneapolis; and niece McKenna Ruesch of Sheboygan.
Violet was preceded in death by her dear grandmother Annabell Jordan, grandfather Jim Blair, grandmother Melba Woods, uncle Rodney Blair, and aunt Kerstin Blair.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to an education fund for Violet's son Harry.
