Walter Clarence Mancil, 95, Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Riverview Medical Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 25th at First English Lutheran Church. Rev. Joshua Fite will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery in Pittsville. Visitation will be from 6pm - 8pm on Wednesday, October 24th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 10:00 am until the time of services on Thursday at the church.
Walter was born in the Township of Sherry on April 12, 1917 to the late John and Clara (Krubsack) Mancil. He married Alice Neumann on October 8, 1949 in Pittsville. She died on December 3, 1972. Eight years later on June 14, 1980, Walter married Alice Kronstedt in Wisconsin Rapids. She died on January 7, 2007.
Walter farmed in the Town of Cary and was a truck driver for a milk route until he moved to Wisconsin Rapids. He then continued to work at the Consolidated Paper Mill in Wisconsin Rapids as a finishing room assistant until his retirement.
Walter was a good father and provider for his family. He loved to be outdoors either hunting or fishing in his spare time. He also enjoyed watching baseball games with Alice, especially the Cubs and later the Brewers.
Walter is survived by his children: Leta Batson; Cliff Mancil; Laura Mancil; Janet Baker; Roger (Kathleen) Mancil; and Marilyn (Bill) Luthardt; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol VanAlstine, infant granddaughter, one brother and one sister.
