William "Bill" Sojka age 69, of Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Pittsville, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Borger, TX.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM. Saturday at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. Deacon James Johnston will officiate. The memorial visitation will be held from 11 AM until 1 PM. Bill was born July 30, 1943 in Wisconsin Rapids to Frank and Beatrice (Hutter) Sojka. He attended Wallace School from 1949 to 1957 in the town of Hiles and graduated from Pittsville High School in 1961. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard and was a member of the Red Arrow Division. Bill was employed by Nekoosa Papers, Inc. (Domtar) for 39 years, retiring in 2001 as a maintenance planner. He was employed at Gaynor Cranberry from 2001 until 2003 and from 2003 until present, worked with an outside contractor for oil refineries.
Bill was a member of the Pittsville Lions Club. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. Some of his hobbies included woodworking, traveling, camping and hiking. He loved being with people and truly enjoyed his work because the entire team was like a brotherhood.
Bill married Linda Earl on April 19, 1966. The marriage ended in divorce. He is survived by his children from that marriage, Theresa (Terry) Hebert and their children, Rachel, Cassandra and Atlanta all of Greenwood, and Jim (Teri) Sojka and their children, Kristina and Kayla all of Ladysmith.
He married Marla Novack Amundson on July 29, 1995 in the town of Saratoga. He is survived by Marla and her children, Dale (Wendy) Novack and their children, Tori, Cassie, Brian, Haley and Michael all of Wisconsin Rapids, Darlene (Ray) Vinson and their children, Brandon, Stephanie and Amber all of Claremore, OK, and Dawn and Shannon Carlson and their daughters, Rebecca and Leah all of Wisconsin Rapids.
He is further survived by his siblings, Jerry (Judy) Sojka of Pittsville, Don (Jayne) Sojka of Pittsville, Frank (Leslie) Sojka of Oshkosh, Joanne (Ron) Cournoyer of Pittsville and David (Wendy) Sojka of Pittsville. He is also survived by four great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and Marla's son, Douglas.
Marla and the entire family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the entire crew in Texas that stood by her side at her time of need. You have no idea how grateful we are to our extended family. Knowing that she was never alone, during such a devastating time, means so much to us. Thank you.
