William J. Walczak, age 64, of 430 Wood Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse, WI.
Funeral Services are 12:00 PM (Noon) Friday, June 21, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Sahayanathan Nathan will officiate. Visitation will take place at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of services. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is handling all arrangements.
Bill was born December 7, 1948 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Alfred and Jeanette (Zukowski) Walczak.
He married Brenda J. Shear on June 24, 1972 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Bill was employed for the City of Wisconsin Rapids and for 17 years was a collection agent/banker for Associated Bank in Stevens Point, WI.
Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart
. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1558 of Wisconsin Rapids. Bill enjoyed camping and boating at Star Lake, WI. He enjoying hunting and fishing, and was a member of the local bass fishing club. He was an enthusiast of all sports and excelled at sports trivia. Besides coaching grade school basketball teams, Bill was an avid bowler and a member of the American Bowling Association.
Bill is survived by his wife, Brenda, three sons, Derek (Christina) Walczak of Waconia, MN, Jess Walczak of St. Paul, MN, and Matthew Walczak of Bloomington, IL; four grandchildren, Abbi, Emily, Rebecca, and Anna; two sisters, Marjory (Mike) Prescher of Plainfield, WI and Susan (Jerry) Kershasky of Waukesha, WI; seven brothers, Michael Walczak of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Paul (Monica) Walczak of Hopkins, MN, Timothy Walczak of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Daniel (Terri) Walczak of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Stephen (Jane) Walczak of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Jon (Barb) Walczak of Hudson, WI and Peter (Brenda) Walczak of Minneapolis, MN.
Bill is also survived by his mother-in-law, June Durst of Mesa, AZ, sister-in-law, Elona Thomas of Mesa, AZ and brother-in-law, Tom (Verleen) Shear of Wild Rose, WI. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He will be missed by all.
