Charles Lewis Langeberg, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, August 6, 2012, 7:30 am., at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI of cancer of the duodenum.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 6190 Chapel Rd., Town of Sigel, WI. Rev. Robert Nelson will preside. Burial will take place in Holy Rosary Parish Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post #485 of Rudolph, WI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Ritchay Funeral Home (1950 12th Street South) in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and again at the Church on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. (Please Note: There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary held at 6:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.)

Charles was born September 15, 1938 in Eureka, Wisconsin to Margaret Agnes (Luzenski) and Bertram Lewis Langeberg. He was raised and attended school in Cornell, WI. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Marines and served from 1956 to 1958.

Charles was united in marriage to Agnes Ann Grabowski at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, WI on January 17, 1959. Almost all of their married life was spent in rural Wisconsin Rapids. He was employed first at Preway and then at the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company (Domtar). Charles completed an apprenticeship and became a journeyman millwright in 1969. He then worked his way up to Lead Man - maintenance and retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Company in 2000 after 35 years.

He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, gardening, farming and travel. The only things he collected in this life were family, friends, memories and power line insulators. Charles was a member of 3rd and 4th Degree Knights, Council 1558 of Wisconsin Rapids, American Legion Post #485 of Rudolph, WI, was a financial representative at ACS from Holy Rosary Parish in Sigel, WI and was a Town Supervisor for Town of Sigel.

Charles is survived by his wife Agnes of Wisconsin Rapids, sons: Daniel (Darlene Baker) Langeberg of Merrimac, WI, Joseph (Melinda) Langeberg of Onalaska, WI, John (Yvonne) Langeberg of Baraboo, WI, Steven Langeberg of Wausau, WI, daughters: Diane Percefull of Lake Stevens, WA, Bernadette (Herman, Jr.) Loving of Fayetteville, NC, Andrea (Norbert) Pecher of Vesper, WI, Jennifer (Todd) Bauer of Ogdensburg, WI, Mary (Elmer) Bonikowske of Ogdensburg, WI, grandchildren: Tami (Dennis) Jones, Andrew Fisher, Laura Fisher, Brandon (fiance Nikita Giese) Lobner, Megan Lobner, Sarah Lobner, Caleb Lokken, Wyatt, Patience and Madison Pecher, David Loving, Brittany Bauer, Morgan Bauer, Vincent and Clara Bonikowske, Grace, Charles, and Michael Langeberg, Rachel, Rebekah, Samuel, Noah and Anna Langeberg, great-grandchildren: J.D., Justis and Katie Herman, Shiloh and Chase Jones, Slaydon and Avery East, Melodie "Kristine" and Joseph Geoff and Levi Lobner, brothers: Bertram (Katie) Langeberg of Westminister, CO, Dr. Allen (Kathy) Langeberg of Mequon, WI, Wayne Langeberg of Leesburg, FL, sisters: Elizabeth "Betty" (Stanley) Go of West Allis, WI, Marjorie Fenzl of Shorewood, WI and Rebecca (Richard) Farling of Leesburg, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Margaret and Bertram Lewis Langeberg, brother: James Langeberg, sister: Geraldine "Jeri" Kalnich, brothers-in-law: Thomas Fenzl, LeRoy Webster, Victor Gray, Sister-in-law: Francis Kopacz, nephew: Michael Go, and Angel Children: Chris and Terri Langeberg.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be designated for educational purposes at a later date.
