Clarence Braund Obituary

Clarence Allen Braund, 57, passed away Jan. 6, 2012, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He battled leukemia for over six years, recently going through a stem cell transplant.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. The Rev. Sharon Manns will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Clarence was known to family and friends as Allen. He was born April 11, 1954, to Clarence and Margie (Faulkner) Braund in Tomah. He married his cherished wife, Mary on June 7, 1976. He worked in the paper industry for almost 39 years, starting at Great Northern Nekoosa Papers, Georgia Pacific and then Domtar. As a teenager he worked on area cranberry marshes.

Allen and Mary liked to vacation in the Eagle River area to fish and geocache. Allen was a pretty good golfer, playing for several seasons on the Nepco League. In recent years, he enjoyed yard work, jogging and playing with the grandkids.

Allen has left behind his adoring family — wife, Mary; daughter, Sara (Jeff) Olson of Amherst; son, Aron (Jackie) Braund of Eau Claire; and two very special grandchildren, Alannah Olson and Carter Braund. He will miss meeting his newest grandbaby by just a few weeks. Allen also is survived by his sisters, Alice Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, Darlene Puent of Tomah, Carol (David) Johnson and Barbara (Dave) Jirschele-Sabatine of Wisconsin Rapids, Diane (Scott) Krohn of Suamico and Cheryl (Kevin Bailey) Walling of New Lisbon; his brother Edward (Rita) Braund of Clintonville; and his stem cell donor-brother, Kenneth Braund of New Lisbon.

Also from the Captain family, mother-in-law, Irene Captain, Jean (Sharon Manns) Captain of Duluth Minn., Joe (Margitta) Captain of Biloxi, Miss., Peter (Sally) Captain of Wisconsin Rapids, Judy (Kate Stormer) Captain of Stoughton, Jackie (Michael Leon) Captain of Fitchburg, John (Joanne) Captain of Mundelein, Ill., and Jim (Mary) Captain of Wisconsin Rapids. Family friends, Jeff Kauss and Tammy Winker. Nieces and nephews, David Khollman, Fred, Dale and Larry Puent, Hilary Rosenheim, Tracy (Tom) Ashbeck, Andy (Kary) Johnson, Joe Jirschele, Ryan, Zach and Emily Krohn, Levi Braund, Nathan and Heather Walling. A memorial will be established at a later date.
