David W. Ebsen, 69, of Edgerton, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at U.W. Hospital, Madison, with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 10, 1944, in Wisconsin Rapids, son of Angeline (Bauer) Ebsen-Simkowski and the late William Ebsen. He was united in marriage to Annie Terranova, on December 4, 1987, in Beloit.
David had worked at the D.O.T. as an inspector for the State of Wisconsin. He was most proud of his sobriety for over 31 years, which started on July 11, 1981. He was also a counselor for Recovering Alcoholics for the D.O.T. He loved to play golf, cribbage, sheepshead, poker, and making dream catchers. David's famous words were, Diabetes Sucks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Annie of Edgerton; two daughters, Brook (Jeff) Wethal of Stoughton; and Makenzie (Eric) Hill of Edgerton; two sons, Chris Ebsen of Peoria, AZ; and Connor Ebsen of Edgerton; three grandchildren, Lace, Brady and Grayson; mother, Angeline Simkowski of Wisconsin Rapids; one brother, John (Ruth Ann) Ebsen of Madison; one sister, Patrice Randecker of Wisconsin Rapids; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial service will be held at noon, on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, (US HWY 51 N), Edgerton, with the Rev. Larry MacKenzie, officiating. A gathering and celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In Lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Condolences may be expressed at ehlertfuneralhome.com
