Horejs, Dee "Nonnie"

Dee Horejs, aka Nonnie, 59, of Plover passed away August 26, 2013, at home, after a lengthy illness in the presence of her family.

An informal visitation will be held at Higgins Funeral Home, 631 E. Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids on Friday, August 30, from 5-8pm. John Buettgen, Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society, is assisting the family.

Dee, birth named Domenica, was born on December 12, 1953 in Chicago, to Vivian and Dominic Vaia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patricia Beckman, her brother John Vaia, and extended family. Dee is survived by her daughter Gina (Travis) Drollinger, her son Michael, her cherished grandchildren Serene and Dominic (and Bryson), her brother Michael (Joyce) Vaia, and her husband Mike, as well as many life long friends and beloved extended family.

Dee was well-educated in the school of life and hard knocks. She married her high-school sweetheart in 1975. 11 years later, she and Mike were fortunate to begin a family, with 2 amazing children and then the blessings of grandchildren. Dee will always be remembered for her fun-loving ways with kids of all ages and love of friends and family, and for always having your back.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ministry Home Care Hospice Wausau/Stevens Point and Ministry St. Michael's Hospital Stevens Point, both of which helped with Dee's care over the past year. Condolences can be made at Higgins@higginsfuneralhome.net
