Gary was born November 25, 1942 in Milwaukee to Sebastian and Muriel (Tews) Baumann.
Gary completed the colloquy program at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was ordained into the ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod on December 8, 1985. He received his first call to Zion Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Nebraska.
Gary was called to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids in 1989 and served as pastor there until his retirement in 2005. During his years at Immanuel, Pastor Baumann was involved in the ministries of Evangelism, Human Care, Discipleship, Stewardship, and Worship. His visits to the home bound brought them God's word, the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion, and provided them a personal connection to their church.
Gary was a beloved son, brother, and uncle and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his father, Sebastian Baumann of Ocoee, Florida; three sisters: Lorna (Pat) Dyer of Ocoee, Florida, Gail (Doug) Gale of Elk River, Minnesota, and Colleen Baumann of Milwaukee; and nephews: Brian, Wes, Wayne, Daniel, and Jeff. He was preceded in death by his mother, Muriel.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family.
Memorials may be designated to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
