Giese, Gerard "Jerry"

Gerard (Jerry) Giese, 61, was suddenly taken from his family's arms on Monday, April 15, 2013, when he died at home of natural causes. Awaiting Jerry's arrival in heaven are his beloved parents Ernest and Eunice (Sargent) Giese and his youngest son, Christopher.

Together since 1987, Jerry was an attentive husband to his wife Mary Devine-Giese, a loving parent to his sons, Jamie (Amanda) Giese of Wausau and Shawn Giese of Waukesha, and his step children, Charity (Jason) Hulce of Amherst, Jeremiah Jake Erickson and Joel (Jessica) Erickson of Stevens Point and a doting "Pa" to his granddaughters, Skylar, Madison and Juno and grandsons Gavin and Corbin.

Born April 7, 1952, Jerry became one of six close siblings who will deeply miss him; Mary (Ken) Matthews, Dennis Giese, Susan (Greg) Walcott and Tammy Roberts all of Wisconsin Rapids and James (Joyce) Giese of Stevens Point. Also dear to Jerry were his many nieces and nephews and the family he gained through marriage.

Graduating from Lincoln High School, Jerry began working for Consolidated Papers. He left for a few years to work for the city of Wisconsin Rapids returning to the mill to work much of the next three decades as a rope tender. Jerry also served in the Wisconsin National Guards.

Jerry was happiest caring for others. He relished being the fire tender of the hunting camp, using his mastery of the grill for the delight of others, fussing over his pets, and always being just a phone call away.

Per Jerry's wishes, family, friends and neighbors are welcome to gather in Jerry's memory at his home, 8421 5th Avenue, Almond, on Saturday, May 4th beginning at 2 pm. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry's family is grateful for the Almond First Responders and the Portage County Ambulance and Police Departments. Online condolences available at www.hollyfuneralhome.com
