Fletcher, Harlow Ray

Harlow Ray Fletcher, 73, peacefully passed away Thursday October 4, 2012 at his home while surrounded by his family. He was born on September 12,1939, in the township of Buena Vista, Portage County WI to Ray Fletcher and Eilene Fox Fletcher. Harlow's grandparents were Fred and Ada Fox of Pittsville & Eugene and Bessie Fletcher of Buena Vista. He married Carolyn Shoemaker on June 3, 1963.

After high school Harlow worked at Cutler Hammer for two years before he attended Wood County Normal Teachers College.

He then moved home to teach 7th grade at Pittsville Elementary before moving to Indiana to finish his teaching degree at Marion College. Harlow was a well-loved teacher for 43 years. He retired from teaching at South Adams Elementary School in 2004. He was a member of the West Missionary Church where he faithfully served in many capacities. Other groups in which he participated were the Edelweiss Singers, Classroom Teachers Association and the Reading Teachers Association. He leaves his legacy with his wife, Carolyn, daughters Colleen (Peter) Rupp of Berne IN, Jeannine ( Curtis) Wurster of Berne IN, Christine (Rodney ) Fort Wayne IN, and Kathleen (Trent)

Reynolds, Ohio. Brothers; Lee (Sue) Fletcher of Port Edwards, Marvin (Mary) Hintz of Nekoosa. Sisters; Betty Ubinger of Port Edwards & Bonnie (Dennis) Wilhelm. Sisters-in-law Carla Fletcher, Rhinelander & Carolyn Fletcher of St. Anne, IL. Harlow's took his greatest pride in his Grandchildren: Kirsten, Caleb, Mackenzie, Michaela, Xavier, Michael, Alexandra, Jacob, Chloe, Zane & Ezekiel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eilene Fox Fletcher Hintz & father Ray Fletcher. His brothers Mark Fletcher and Gayle Fletcher, Step Father Robert Hintz and beloved grandson Zachary Fletcher Rupp.

Matthew 25:23, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." This beautifully summarizes Harlow's life. He treasured his wife of 49 years, their children, and their grandchildren. Harlow loved life and cherished each day God blessed him with...He took loving care of his extended family and traveled home often to Wisconsin to visit & reminisce. Harlow's was a life well lived and he will be very deeply missed by everyone who knew & loved him.

Funeral services were Monday, October 8 at West Missionary Church in Berne IN, Officiated by Pastor Keith Rupp. Burial is in the Backesto Cemetery, Berne IN. Preferred memorials are to the West Missionary Church building fund and/or Family Life Care.
