Joseph H. Parzy, age 93, of formerly of 1840 Clark Street, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Wisconsin Rapids Care center.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Rolando Onden officiated. Entombment was in Forest Hill Mausoleum with military rites provided by VFW Post #2534 of Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation was held at St. Lawrence Church on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 AM.
Joe was born March 31, 1919 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Joseph and Lottie (Schanock) Parzy Sr. He married Irma Shaw on September 14, 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Joe was employed at Consolidated Papers Inc. for 36 years retiring in 1982. Joe and his wife, Irma also owned and operated Edgetown Bar & Restaurant from 1950-1960.
Joe was proud of his service record, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1940-1945. While in the army Joe was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge. He was a life member of the VFW Post #2534 of Wisconsin Rapids, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion Post #442. Joe was known on the baseball diamond throughout Central Wisconsin as a great left hand softball pitcher. He also enjoyed Assumption High School sports.
Joe is survived by his wife, Irma; and by many loving nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Sylvester Parzy, Myron Wacynski and Dick Wacynski and two sisters, Helen Kaja and Agnes Goldberg.
Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is handling all arrangements.
