Butler, Lois A. (Dohm)

On September 25, 2013 Lois A. (Dohm) Butler's prayers for peace eternal were answered. After 87 years of devotion to family and an unending faith in her Lord and the Virgin Mary, her burdens were laid to rest. She joins her parents, Arnold and Margaret (Doll) Dohm, older brothers, LaVerne and Bud and her husband, Raymond C. Butler.

Lois married Raymond Butler March 5, 1946 and moved from Marshfield to Madison then to Waunakee, WI, where they raised their family. They enjoyed extensive travel throughout the U.S. in their RV, with family and ultimately retired in Mission, TX. Their travels not only took them to Europe and Russia with their good friends and in-laws, Butch & Joyce Butler of Cottage Grove, WI, but on many an enjoyable day trip around WI. Lois enjoyed several occupations throughout her life including running/owning Mr. Chipper Drive-Inn, Waunakee, WI with Ray and family; and at the UW Extension, after earning her associate degree in accounting at age 55, where she retired. Lois moved to Adams Village after Ray's death in 2005 and then Liberty Manor, Adams where she found friends in the residents and loving, caring staff. Throughout her life she continued her passions of reading, following and discussing politics, keeping up on the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers and playing cards, whether it was with others or on her computer.

Lois had many accomplishments in her life but she always felt her greatest was the raising of her eight children, of whom she is survived, Marge Edwards, Friendship, WI; Pat (Patty) Butler, Spring Green, WI; Nancy Dix (Joe Havlik), Big Flats, WI; Joyce (Dave) Jones, Columbus, OH; Tom (Jane) Butler, Yakama, WA; Jim (Kim) Butler, Mercersburg PA; Bob (Jolene) Butler, Poynette, WI; and Timothy (Trish), St. Louis, MO. As a proud grandmother she is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who she follows on Facebook. Additionally she is survived by sister, Germaine (Ted) Hein, Mazeppa, MN; in-laws, Richard (Joyce) Butler, Pat (Ruth) Butler, and Jo Butler; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Martha Karbowski.

She was preceded in death by husband, brothers, Bud (Elaine) Dohm, LaVerne (Irene) Dohm, and son in-law, James Edwards.

A special thank you goes from her family for the life Lois enjoyed during her residence at Liberty Manor and the care the entire staff provided her.
