Luella A. (Gessert) Foth, age 87, of Marshfield, entered eternal life on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Stoney River Assisted Living in Marshfield surrounded by her family and friends. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy.) in Marshfield. Fran Trochta, Hospice Chaplain will officiate. Burial will be held in the Hillside Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Luella was born on February 21, 1925 in Bakerville, WI, the daughter of Carl "Frederick" and Martha (Bloch) Gessert. She was united in marriage to Alfred Foth on November 3, 1945 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2005.
Luella worked at the shoe factory in Marshfield, as a housekeeper, a day care provider, a cook at the Oasis and was the Sub Site Food Manager at Cedar Rail Apartments. She enjoyed watching the birds, tending her flowers, hand sewing, baking and cooking. Luella's biggest joys were her grandchildren and cooking Sunday dinners for her family.
Luella is survived by her four children: Dale (Debra) Foth, Marshfield, Harlan (Debra) Foth, FL, Merlin Foth, Pittsville and Gordon (Colleen) Foth, Marshfield; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Lane) Thompson, Joey (Trisha) Sweatman, Heather Dailey (Douglas VanSant), Ryan (Stephanie) Foth and Eric Foth and nine great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Allan Gessert, MT; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gessert, Brodhead, Joy Foth, Wausau and a brother-in-law, Elmer Ley, WI Rapids; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred; 10 brothers and sisters: Robert Gessert, Rosina Dye, Edna Miller, Arline Jensen, Gerhardt Gessert, Leo Gessert, Arnold Gessert, Laura Drackley, Jeanette Ley and Arthur Gessert; a great-grandson, Zachariah VanSant and two brothers-in-law, Norm Foth and Orville (Marie) Foth.
She was a wonderful lady.
