Allison, Sr., Robert L.
Bob passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home in Plainfield, joining his beloved Annabelle.
Robert was born January 8, 1928 in the Town of Plainfield to Charles and Flossie (Crawford) Allison. Bob married his sweetheart Annabelle Callahan on January 12, 1946 in Almond, Wisconsin.
Bob began working early in life as a milk hauler for Plainfield Creamery. After he and Annabelle moved to Wisconsin Rapids he began his career as a heavy equipment operator working first for Bill Krueger of Krueger & Jefferson and retiring from Tork Trucking & Excavating in 1990. His reputation on a dozer was well-known and he was requested on many projects because of his expert eye. His work ethic was unparalleled and extraordinary. Bob was extremely proud of his 50+ years as a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139.
Bob enjoyed meeting and talking with just about anyone. He had an amazing memory to recount stories, reminisce and share his piece of history with family and friends. One of Bob's long-standing pastimes was reading newspapers to stay informed of current happenings and issues; another was his passion for mowing his property and keeping a park-like setting. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who did not hesitate to show and express his feelings.
Robert will be sadly missed by his children, Linda, Charlie (Leah), Janet (Keith) and daughter-in-law, Nancy Bayne; grandchildren, Tim, Kari, Allison, Michelle, Eric, Galen, Braden, Dan, Justin, Lindsay and Matt; great-grandchildren, Ben, Emily, Aaron, Haley, Natalie, Gabrielle, Evan, Maddie, Ellie and Abbie; sisters, Donna Pichelmann and Romona Schulist; special aunt Norma Allison; in-laws, Dorothy Adams, Ruby Garrett and Jim (Maddie) Callahan, Harold Bartels and Terry Callahan. Bob's friendly and gentle personality with his contagious smile and dimples will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 1/2 years Annabelle; son, Ron; great-grandson, Teddy; and one sister, Evelyn Allison; brothers-in-law, Raymond Pichelmann and Martin Schulist.
There will be a private graveside service at a later date. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.
