Wagner, William E.

William E. Wagner, father of Robert (Mary) J. Wagner, aged 96, died July 18, 2013 at Pine Ridge Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids, WI under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

William will be buried at St. Peter's Catholic Church courtyard in Roswell, New Mexico.

William was born December 12, 1916 in the town of Hayton, WI, the son of Otto and Frances Wagner and grew up on the farm he was born on. He was a graduate of the Manitowoc Teacher's College and taught school at the Red Star School in Menasha, WI. He next served an apprenticeship at the Kimberly Clark Paper Corporation retiring as the maintenance supervisor after 32 years of service. In retirement William was proud to have led the AARP 55 Alive program for 25 years retiring as the New Mexico state coordinator.

William married Leona E. Klassen on November 23, 1939 in Sherwood, WI. They celebrated 69 years of marriage prior to her death March 18, 2008. Together they raised four children; Russell E. Wagner of Sandusky, OH, Mary T. Wagner of Concord, CA, Robert J. Wagner of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Richard G. Wagner of Neenah, WI. William has three grandchildren, Nicholas Wagner, Jason Pryor, and Gretchen Wagner.

Survivors include his children, Russell, Mary, and Robert, and his grandchildren, and friend Joyce Higgins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Frances Wagner, brothers, Raphael, Norbert, Leroy, Kenneth, and one sister Leora Spang, and son Richard Wagner.

The family would like to thank Pine Ridge Assisted Living for their loving care over the past five years and Ministry Hospice; Deb, Stephanie, Roberta, Carrie, Lynn, Dave, Susan, Duane, Ron, and Ann for their care and concern during this transition.
