Gordon Edward Hoefs passed away with his wife at his side on March 16, 2014 at the Madison VA Hospital. Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 23, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Auburndale. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Auburndale and again from 1:00 PM until service time at the church on Sunday. The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gordon was the oldest son of Edward and Elinor (Schultz) Hoefs. He was born on June 12, 1933 near Stratford, WI, in Marathon County. Gordon attended East Kerwin School.

He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged November 30, 1962

Gordon was employed at Roddis Plywood in Marshfield, the Marshfield Canning Factory, Sauter Bros Seed Store in Auburndale, Nicklaus Enterprises, Irma, WI, and Figi's of Marshfield. He also farmed and was a dealer in new and used farm machinery.

He was united in marriage to Gleora Hein June 1958 and later they divorced.

Gordon and Barbara Kegler were joined in marriage on June 21, 1969 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pittsville, WI. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Auburndale, WI. He was a member of the American Legion in Marshfield, WI where he enjoyed working. His favorite past time was going to auctions and farm toy shows. He also attended the world's largest farm implement auction in Bridgeport, NE. He also enjoyed shopping at Shaw's Wrecking Yard.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara of Auburndale, his sons: James (Mary) Hoefs of Marshfield, Robert Hoefs of Chili, and Ronald Hoefs of Auburndale;

his step-son, Keith Kegler of Wisconsin Rapids, his granddaughters, Pam Mbeda and Nicole Hoefs, his step granddaughters: Amanda Follen and Lisa Kegler; his great grand daughter: Quinlynn; and great grandson: Davanint.

Gordon is further survived by his brother, Donald (Darlene) Hoefs of King, WI, his sisters, Marlene (Gordon) Haselow of Loyal, WI, and Shirley Larson of Loyal, WI.

Gordon is preceded in death by his son Gordon Hoefs Jr., his parents, Edward and Elinor Hoefs, father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Elsee Kegler, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester and Kay Hoefs, Roger and Betsy Hoefs, also infant brother, Gary, and infant sister, Joyce.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Haselow, Steven Haselow, Donna Milz, Lynn Pawlowicz, Brian Hoefs, and Greg Hoefs.

In lieu of flowers sympathies may be made to Gordon's family.
