Warren Elwood Grove, age 89, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 7, 2014 at Faith Reformed Church (1321 32nd Street North) in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Vance Elzinga will officiate, burial will be in Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Warren was born April 29, 1924 in Stahlstown, PA to Elmer and Annie (Ulery) Grove. He attended local schools in Stahlstown, before moving to Mundelein and Libertyville, IL in the early 1940's. Warren served in the U.S. Army during World War 2 from 1943 to 1946 in the European Theater. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post #2534 of Wisconsin Rapids.
He married Mildred Jaeger on August 30, 1958 in Mundelein, IL. She died on August 5, 2007. Warren and his wife moved to Vesper, WI in 1970 and he began working for the Wood County Farm Supply. He was later employed by the Vesper Lumber Company, until 1987 when he retired and moved to Wisconsin Rapids.
Warren was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Wisconsin Rapids, Masonic Lodge #128 F & A.M., Royal Arch Chapter No. 89, Heart of Wisconsin Council No. 39, Crusade Commandery No. 17, Rainbow Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 87, Mount Olive White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 24, all of Wisconsin Rapids. Western Wisconsin York Rite College No. 85 of La Crosse, Tri-State Royal Arch Association, Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of Eau Claire and the Wisconsin Rapids Scottish Rite Club.
He is survived by his three children Donald Savage of Appleton, WI, David (Susan) Savage of Appleton, WI, Sandra (Michael) Schreier of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, daughter-in-law Joan Grove of Merrill, WI, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Warren was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife Mildred, Son William Grove, brother Bill, sisters Eula, Clara and Myra.
In lieu of flowers, the family will designate a memorial at a later date.
