Wayne C. Dempze, age 69, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield, WI.
Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Monday, June 30, 2014 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Jim Altman will officiate. Visitation will be at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday and Monday at the Church from 10:00-11:00 AM. There will be a Parish Rosary at 6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. After the committal service a luncheon will be served at Saints Peter & Paul Church.
Wayne was born November 12, 1944 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Gordon and Iris (Ayres) Dempze. He married Jeanne E. Kempfert on May 29, 1965 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Wayne was a devoted husband to Jeanne for 49 years. Wayne was employed at Consolidated Papers Inc for 35 years, as an electrician, as a planner, as an instrumentation supervisor and retired as supervisor of the investment recovery department in 1999. Wayne also owned and operated Wayne Dempze Cranberry Company.
Wayne was a member and served as president of the River Valley Flyers, was a member of the Creepers Car Club and also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1558 of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Wayne was a street rod enthusiast and enjoyed restoring cars. He always loved time with his family especially his children and grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by wife, Jeanne; four children, Scott (Kelli) Dempze of Vesper, WI, Kelly (Lafe Enkro Jr.) Dempze of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Robert (Olya) Dempze of Milwaukee, WI and Timothy (Cassie Anderson) Dempze of Stillwater, MN; six grandchildren, Bethany, Erinn, Caleb, Nathan, Natalie and Leo; one brother, Gary (Sue) Dempze of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and one sister, Nancy (Dan Bailey) Dempze of Boston., MA. Wayne is also survived by sister in law, Susie Dempze of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, nieces, nephews and the Kempfert family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim, niece, Jessica Dupree, father in law, Harvey Kempfert and brother in law, David Kempfert.
A scholarship fund will be established in Wayne's name at a later date.
