Jean Volhard Obituary
Volhard, Jean

Jean Volhard, 69, Mosinee, died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

She was born October 3, 1944 in Rudolph, daughter of the late Agnes and Felix O'Shasky. She was the fourth of five girls and they lived on the family farm. At a young age, Jean was a hard-worker and she eagerly babysat for neighborhood kids because she loved children, as well as desired money to spend on another passion, clothes. Jean graduated from Assumption High School in 1961. After High School she worked in quality control at the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company and a couple years later moved to Wausau, where she met and married her adoring husband, Dennis "Denny" Volhard on April 8, 1967.

Jean and Denny, with family help, built their home in Kronenwetter. There she lovingly raised their son, John and daughter, Jina. Her passion for her family, and later for her work at IBM and NorthCentral Technical College, gave Jean and others great joy. In her lifetime, she helped people through her charity work with St. Monica's Joan of Arc Circle, multiple donations to local and national charities, endless hours of caring for grandchildren and in her younger years, she happily volunteered her home while watching the neighborhood kids grow.

Her compassionate heart will be carried on in the spirit of her husband, children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law and her five grandchildren, who will always remember their grandmother as their biggest cheerleader in life. Above all, her husband and children want people to know that Jean always wanted to do and give more for others; she thought highly of those that volunteered their time to take care of others. Jean taught us to be driven, to care for our family, and to love God. We will remember her mostly for how she made us feel, unconditionally loved.

She is survived by her husband, Denny; children, John (Melissa) Volhard and Jina (Fred) Burman; grandchildren, Reese, Ragen and Rowen Volhard and Cooper and Porter Burman; four caring sisters, Louise Ticknor, Ruth (James) Greening, Mary (Roger) Pascavis and Rita Beck and many nieces, nephews and adoring friends.

Jean was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Jean and the family wish to thank everyone who cared for her, sent uplifting notes and beautiful flowers. Your gifts of kindness will always be remembered and passed along to others in need.

A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 am Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the church.

Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is in charge of arrangements.
