Genevieve A. Langreck, 99, Marshfield, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate and music will be provided by St. John's Church Funeral Choir. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield, and serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Dennis Fink, Mark, Chris, Keith, and Chuck Langreck, Lisa Dunham, Mary Strigel, Teresa Schultz, and Sheila Kopp. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 am until service time at St. John's Catholic Church. A combined St. John's Parish and Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be held on Friday at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
Genevieve was born on March 7, 1913 in Marshfield to John and Anna (Hederer) Fehrenbach. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and Marshfield Senior High School. When she was a junior in high school she left school and went to work to help support the family during the depression. While working as a nanny she went to night school and obtained her high school diploma. She also worked at St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse's aide, and then at Trudeau's Café, both in Marshfield. She met the love of her life, Julius Langreck and they were united in marriage on October 1, 1935 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He died on June 9, 1983.
In 1945 Genevieve became an insurance agent for Catholic Knights of Wisconsin which later became Catholic Financial of which she was district manager. She kept that position for 35 years and sold her last policy in 1997. She also had taken the Dale Carnegie course and had taken more classes in baking which helped in the production of cakes, including beautiful wedding cakes. She had worked at Marshfield Super Speedway for many years and owned and operated Langreck's Rooming House from 1957 until 2007, counseling and helping many people who had ill family in the hospital.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by a daughter and 4 sons, Joanne (friend - Wally Burton) Forbes of Wisconsin Rapids, Paul (Jeanette) Langreck of Marshfield, James (fiancee' - Bernadette Werner) Langreck of Marshfield, Gerald (Rosalie) Langreck of Phillips, and David (Kathy) Langreck of Marshfield. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren expected. She is further survived by 4 sisters, Irene Koch, of Marshfield, Jeanette Illinski of Alpena, MI, Marie (Rueben) Gessert of Marshfield, and Mildred Guensburg of Antigo and 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Langreck and Janet Langreck.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sisters, Marian Fehrenbach in infancy and Marcella Kilgus, and a great grandson, Joshua Alderman.
