Eldora Mary Theresa Cook age 77, of 1782 County Hwy. G, Nekoosa, was called to her eternal home on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards, surrounded by her family.
Her celebration of life will be held at 11 AM. Thursday (January 3, 2013) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards. Rev. Doug Schalow will officiate. Burial will be in the Village of Port Edwards Cemetery. Friends may call at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa on Wednesday (January 2, 2013) from 4-8 PM. and Thursday at the church from 10 AM. until the time of service. Eldora was born September 13, 1935 in Wonewoc, WI to Daniel and Theresa (Backaberg) Clark. She was a graduate of Mauston High School. She married Martin Cook on June 12, 1954 in Wonewoc at St. Paul's Lutheran Church
Eldora was homemaker for many years and enjoyed her cooking, canning, cake decorating, and taking care of her family. She was well known for her beautiful wedding cakes and would create a cake for any event. Once her children were grown, she took a job at American Potato and worked there for over ten years. Eldora later became a CNA in the Wisconsin Rapids area until her retirement. She was always busy with a craft of some sort and she particularly enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was a former member of Trinity Ladies Aid and taught Sunday school for many years at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Eldora and Martin enjoyed their time spent at their cabin in Phillips. Her greatest love was her family and she particularly loved her role as grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Martin Cook of Nekoosa; 4 children, Gary (Charlotte) Cook of Wisconsin Rapids, Steve (Donna) Cook of Phillips, Sheri (Wally Murray) Lecher of Nekoosa, and Rod (Becky) Cook of Port Edwards; 13 grandchildren, Jamie Cook, Corisa Cook (David Brown), Diana (Josh) Henke, Holly and Marty Cook, Travis and Adam Cook, Weston (Jamie) Surak, Wendy Surak, Whitney (Mark) Cronkrite, Zack, Josh and Amber Cook; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Alice Rolloff of Reedsburg, and Leona Clark of Wonewoc; and one brother-in-law, Wayne Paull of Ridgeway.
Eldora was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Eldon and Elvordie Clark, one sister, Elvira Paull, and one grandson, Matthew Cook.
The Cook family would like to thank the staff of Edgewater Haven for their support and loving care of Eldora.
