Stella Stephanie (Shumsky) Pelot, age 83, of 2719 Swiggum Lane in Nekoosa, passed away Friday January 11, 2012 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday January 16, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Vicki Natzke will officiate. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday January 15, 2013 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 AM.

Stephanie was born November 4, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Stephen and Josephine (Micinswsla) Shumsky. She married Eugene A. Pelot on May 3, 1952. He died on November 21, 1990.

Stephanie enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband Eugene and liked to gather with her special lady friends at McDonald's. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church and served on many various committees. Stephanie was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed watching as many games as she could. She truly valued her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She celebrated her Ukrainian heritage with music and decorative eggs.

She is survived by her sister Ann Babcock and half-sister Paranka Hnatiw; two daughters Pamela (Kevin) DeBoer and Natalie (Shane Gadow) Cline; 8 grandchildren Jacob (Emily) DeBoer, Jon DeBoer, Cheyenne (Vincent) Whitemarsh, Emma DeBoer, Peter DeBoer, Simone DeBoer, Nick Cline and Caleb Cline; 2 great-grandchildren Madeline DeBoer and Chester DeBoer and one expected great-grandchild. She is further survived by many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, brother William Shumsky, sister-in-law Irene Shumsky, brother-in-law Sylvester Babcock, and her dog and faithful companion Rusty.
