Wirtz, Catherine M.

Catherine M. Wirtz, 76, of 409 Piltz Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, January 12, 2013, after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer. Catherine was with her family at her river home.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Rev. James P. McNamee will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Church on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.

Catherine was born July 23, 1936 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Ann (Ilkanich) Greybar. She attended schools in Chicago before moving on a farm in Ruldoph, WI with her parents and later graduated from Rudolph High School. She married Clarence Wirtz on July 2, 1955 at St. Gerald's Catholic Church in Chicago. Catherine and Clarence had 57 wonderful years of marriage together.

Catherine was employed at Consolidated Paper Co. in the paperboard divison, Wood County Telephone Co. and helped develop the new dialing system, Riverview Hospital as the front desk receptionist and was a Bookkeeper at Shopko, retiring in 1993.

Catherine Was a member of the Consolidated Musky Club and a member of the Tri-City Ladies Golf Club. She enjoyed musky fishing, flower-rose gardening, painting, doing crafts, baking and decorating wedding cakes for her family, enjoyed sporting activities, especially golfing and also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She also enjoyed her annual winter trips to her home in Fort Myers, Florida.

She is survived by her husband Clarence, mother Ann Moll of Wis. Rapids, Children Michael (Peggy) Wirtz of Wis. Rapids, Cheryl (John) Klingforth of Wis. Rapids, Tony (Candee) Wirtz of Wis. Rapids, Lori (Significant Other - Wayne) Neidlein of Wis. Rapids, grandchildren Joe Wirtz, Angela (Wes) Krause, Jacob (Shannon) Klingforth, Andrew Klingforth, Barb (Matt) Schiller, Troy and Tyler Wirtz, Nicholas and Natasha Neidlein, great-grandchildren Mason, MacKenzie, Rae, Taylor, Cassandra, Gunner, Kaliegh, Ryott and one sister Patricia (James) DiNardi of California.

Catherine was preceded in death by her father Joseph, grandson Jay, brothers James Greybar, sisters Delores Rajknecht and Agnes Stuebe.

She will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Catherine had a very out going personality and had made many good friends over the years.

The family would like to thank the staff of Wis. Rapids Care Center for their care and friendship during Catherine's stay there and also to Ministry Home Care Hospice.
