James Joseph Herman, age 70 of 119 County Road Z, Town of Rome, Adams County, WI died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. The Rev. John Swing will officiate, Military rites will be provided by the Nekoosa VFW. Visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ritchayfuneralhome.com.
James was born November 4, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Philip and Sadie (Drifka) Herman. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 and was first stationed in California before serving in Vietnam. James married Mary Wallace on March 21, 1971 at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Milwaukee, WI. He was employed as a Pipe Fitter for a Sprinkler Manufacturer in Milwaukee, WI.
James belonged to the Purple Martins Society, and enjoyed bird watching, fishing, boating, landscaping and trips to the casino.
He is survived by wife Mary, children - Christopher (Megan) Herman and Lisa (Scott) Hutchinson, grandchildren - Gracie Hutchinson, Joseph Hutchinson, Gunnar Herman, Twin Brother John Joseph Herman, sisters - Virginia (Alvin) Sarnowski, Dorothy Wagner, Arlene Herman and is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, sisters - Bridgette Herman, Evelyn Herman, Mary Herman and Jeanette Weimer, brother Philip Herman Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to UW Cancer Center at Riverview Hospital.
The family would like to thank the staff of UW Cancer Center at Riverview Hospital for their compassionate care given to James over this past year and to Dr. Deogracias Estrada and his wife, Rommella who Jim considered his special angel.
