Carpenter, Karen

Karen (Sobczak) Carpenter, 73, Carlsbad, Calif., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. She was born Oct. 8, 1939, Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of the late Bennie R. Sobczak and Mation Heltsley. She attended local schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids.

Karen worked as a waitress for Connleys for many years. Later she moved to Carlsbad, Calif., and managed apartment complexes until her retirement.

She was a great animal lover and her pets gave her great joy in life, especially her dog, Yogi.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa (Jon) Carpenter, Oceanside, Calif.; Linda Kelly, Issaquah, Wash.; two sisters, Marilyn (Jack) Kettleson, Wisconsin Rapids; Benita (Ron) Linden, Trinity, Texas; two brothers, Rodney (Mary) Sobczak, Stevens Point; Kelly (Luisa) Heltsley, Colima, Mexico; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; special friends, Marla and Connie.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sharrel Garski-Hayes and brother, Kenneth Heltsley.

She will be loved and missed by all.
