David A. Hetzer

David A. Hetzer, age 81, of Stevens Point, died April 19, 2013 while under the care of Ministry Hospice at the Wellington Place for the past two weeks.
Dave was born February 19, 1932 to the late Arthur & Effie (Rustad) Hetzer in Stevens Point, WI. He grew up here, attended the local grade schools, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.
He married Ione Sorenson on July 21, 1951 in Stevens Point.
Dave was inducted into the US Air force July of 1950. During his time of service, he earned a Good Conduct Medal & a National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 5, 1954.
In earlier years, Dave was a policeman for the Stevens Point Police Department. He later became a truck driver for Dahlman Truckline, and then became employed with Gross Common Carrier. Dave worked there for 21 years, retiring in 1991.
Dave will be remembered for his talkative nature. He enjoyed conversation, and could talk to anyone. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and camping. Dave also enjoyed extensive travel with his wife. Family was important to him, and he enjoyed family events. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 6.
Survivors include his wife, Ione of Stevens Point; Children, Gary (Marcia Tepp) Hetzer of Rosholt, Alan (Connie) Hetzer of Stevens Point, Mary (Bert) Trzebiatowski of Bancroft, Diane (David) Lobermeier of Stevens Point, George (Marge) Hetzer of Stevens Point, Joan (Steve) Maddox of Stevens Point, & Deborah (Gary) Schadrie of Friendship; siblings, James (Pat) Hetzer of Hudson, NH & Carol (Mel) Schneeberg of Wisconsin Rapids; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
A Service, Commemorating his Life, will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Boston Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Zencka officiating. A time of Sharing Memories will also be held on Saturday from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Industries.
