Stanley" Dick" Erdman,passed away Saturday,April 27,2013,at Hilltop Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday,may 1,2013 at St.Vincent de Paul catholic Church.Father John Steiner will officiate.Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.Visitation will be on Tuesday,April 30,2013 from 4-8 at Higgins Funeral Home and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Dick was born with a twin brother,Stanton, Dec.20,1924,in Wood County,to Herman and Tillie[Waldo] Erdman.

Dick was united in marriage to Marie Vechinski on August 25,1951,at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids.She died on Oct.9,2005.

He was employed at Wood County Telephone Company[now Solarus] and retired after 31 years.He also was employed previously at Preway and in earlier years,at Sundstrand Machine Tool Company,Rockford,Ill. He was a Grand Rapids fireman in the'60s. Dick and his twin brother entered the Army together and served his country in World War II in the Rainbow Division,242nd Infantry,42nd Division. He was decorated with three Battle Stars,Participating in the Rhineland and Central European Campaign,the American Theater Service medal and European-African Middle Eastern Theater.Dick was a private first class for the military police and staff sergeant for the platoon guide.

Dick and his wife enjoyed going to polka dances, as well as camping. He and his brothers would plan the annual deer camp for weeks before,and getting the "deer bus" ready to go. He also enjoyed fishing up north with his son-in-law and having coffee with his buddy,Harry. Many stories have been told and some not.He is survived by his daughter Marla[Mike] Maleski,Wisconsin Rapids.He was preceded in death by his parents,wife Marie,brothers,Stanton"Jack"Erdman,Kenneth,Harvey, Neil, and sisters,Vera Minier,Erma Pohlmann.and Char O'day.
