David J. Ellis, age 85, of the Renaissance at 1500 Pepper Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Memorial Services are 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Jim Altman will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends at Ritchay Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:30-11:00 AM. Entombment will take place at Forest Hill Mausoleum.

David was born October 14, 1927 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Charles and Rose (Eizenhoefer) Ellis. He married Joan C. Leverance on September 13, 1952 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. She died November 15, 2007. David was a pipefitter in the refrigeration department of Consolidated Papers Inc. for 42 years retiring in 1987.

David served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was one of the founding members of the Consolidated Musky Club, was a member of the Stan Plis Organization and loved duck hunting and fishing.

David is survived by four children- Linda (Mike) Sheppard of Nekoosa, WI, Mark (Teresa) Ellis of Minocqua, WI, Lisa (Greg) Bennett of Winneconne, WI and Gregory (Kim) Ellis of McFarland, WI; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Waters-Plemon, Stephen (Sarah) Waters, Jeremy Ellis, Mallory Ellis, Colton Ellis, Brandon Bennett, Trevor Bennett, Bryce Bennett, Jacob Traas and Matthew (Rachael) Ellis; 4 great grandchildren, Addison, Daniel, Jackson and Rozlyn and one due in June; two brothers, Thomas (RoJean) Ellis of Wilmington, Delaware and Stanley (Patricia) Ellis of Boulder Junction, WI; and also survived by many brothers in laws and sisters in law and other family.

David was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 11 brothers and sisters, Charles, Fredrick, Robert, Donald, Arthur, William, Margaret, Irene, Jerome, Marie and John.
