Earl Ray Evans, 79, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday night, March 18, 2014 at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born on Saturday, July 21, 1934 in Duncansville, a son of the late Charles Horton and Flossie Ellen Brooks Evans. On Sept. 24, 1955 in Lawrenceburg, Ind., he married Elizabeth A. Roberts Evans, who survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are his son, Marvin (Margaret) Evans of Port William; three daughters, Kathy (Jon) Williams of Wilmington, Melinda (Dean) Ewing of Wilmington and Rhonda (Randy) Jones of Wilmington; 13 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Pearl Faye (Jack) Flynn of Mainesville and sister, Lorraine (Dick) Fite of West Chester.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, Charles, Leonard, James and Robert Evans.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 W. Locust St. in Wilmington.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 21 at 11 a.m., with Pastor David VanHoose officiating. The interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, where the Wilmington American Legion Post 49 Memorial Squad will accord full military honors.
