John S. Hosler, 71, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013.
His wife of 45 years, Connie Jean Dolph Hosler, survives. Mr. Hosler was born Sept. 19, 1942 in Fairborn, Ohio, a son of the late Joe and Nelle Osborn Hosler.
John attended The Ohio State University where he played football. He graduated from Wilmington College and Xavier University. He served in many roles in the Wilmington community throughout his life, including teaching, working with his father at Hosler and Son Construction, serving as a volunteer firefighter, city council member, working many years at Clinton County Job and Family Services, and serving as a Clinton County Community Action board member.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hosler is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Hosler of Cincinnati, and Betsy (Melissa) Gregory-Hosler of Silver Spring, Md.; his mother-in-law, Naomi Dolph of Wilmington; and his granddaughter, Harper Mary Gregory-Hosler, of Silver Spring, Md.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South St., Wilmington. A graveside service will be held at Sugar Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Clinton County Homeless Shelter, 390 W. Main St., Wilmington, OH 45177.
