Shirley Jean Willoughby Dunn, 89, of Wilmington, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at Cape May Assisted Living in Wilmington, where she had been residing the past year.
Shirley was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Lima, Ohio to William and Elizabeth Rahrdin Stanyer. She lived most of her life in this community.
She was a supervisor at the Washington Pool Association for over 30 years and oversaw the American Red Cross Swimming and Lifesaving programs.
Shirley was a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church; a member and first female president of the Washington Country Club and she also belonged to the Women's Golf Association. She had been a member of the former Washington Lioness Club.
She was preceded in death by his first husband, Allen Thomas Willoughby, on Jan. 16, 1991, and by her second husband, Donald Eugene Dunn, on Feb. 19, 2011. She was also preceded by her parents; a brother, Bill Stanyer; and two sisters, Betty Lou Schoonover and Penny Armantrout.
Shirley is survived by a son, Allen Willoughby and his wife, Bonnie, of Wilmington; a granddaughter, Amber Testa and her husband, Nick, of Wilmington; three great-grandchildren, Blaine, Audree and Madalyn Testa; four step-children, Debbie Boggs of Columbus, Dennis Dunn and his wife, Carol, of Mason, Pat Dunn of California and Brian Dunn of New Vienna and his friend, Tami Woodyard; five step-grandchildren, Thaddeus Boggs, Jennifer Camp, Justin, Bradley and Jessica Dunn; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Ann and Curt Edwards of Lima.
The funeral will be Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 11:30 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H. with the Rev. Gray Marshall, pastor at the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
