Johan Thompson Patrick, 84, of Wilmington, died 5:38 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014 at the Autumn Years Nursing Center. Her husband, William Ernest Patrick, survives. They were married on Jan. 28, 1972.

Mrs. Patrick was born on Nov. 19, 1929 in New Vienna, a daughter of the late Elbert and Mary Gertrude Swisshelm Thompson.

Mrs. Patrick had worked at Wells Manufacturing in New Vienna. She was a charter member of the American Legion Post 49 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and gardening.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Patrick is survived by four children, Kathy S. (Michael) Kara of Newton, N.C., Donald E. Smith of Wilmington, Ohio, Brian K. (Brenda) Smith of Washington Court House and Corby L. (Christopher) Carnell of Clarksville; eight grandchildren, Erik, Nicole, Nathan, Nicholas, Stephanie, Sean, Lacy and Jessica; five step-grandchildren, Todd, April, Ty, Jay and Natalie; and five great-grandchildren, Hayley, Makenley, Vanessa, Preslie and Gibson.

A graveside service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, with the Rev. Larry Speelman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the , Ohio River Valley Chapter, 7124 Miami Valley Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45243 or to the of Ohio, 4050 Executive Park Drive, No. 402, Cincinnati, OH 45241.
