Richard A. Pope, 89, of New Vienna, died at his home on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
He was born in Eaugallis, Fla., on April 1, 1925, a son of Otella Raymond and Edith Early Pope. He graduated from Adams Township in 1943. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a tail gunner. He married Dorothy Hewitt Pope on Nov. 9, 1947, who survives.
He retired from Landmark and Kibler Lumber. He was an avid sports fan, loved fishing, motorcycles and horses. He was a member of the Union Grange and the Gold Wing Road Riders.
In 2011, Dick was honored to travel to Washington, D.C. on the Honor Flight.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dixie Walker; grandchildren, Dade Walker and Christopher Walker; a daughter-in-law, Janice Pope; grandchildren, Michael Pope and Dawn Adams; six great-grandchildren and his dog Blue.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Pope; his parents and siblings, Glenn and Charles Pope and Wanda Webb.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 3 p.m. at the Littleton Funeral Home, 104 N. Jackson St. in Sabina, with the burial in the Sabina Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until the 3 p.m. time of the service.
