Michael "Mike" David Deck, 45, of Kirklin, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on Aug. 15, 1968 in Wilmington, to David and Miriam Doak Deck. He married Kimberly Salem on June 14, 1997, and she survives.
Michael graduated from The Ohio State University and received a bachelor's degree from the school of engineering. He worked for Archer Daniels Midland for 22 years as an engineer/plant manager, working in Frankfort, Ind., Macon and Valdosta, Ga., Torreon, Cohuilla, Mexico, Fostoria, Ohio, and Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father, David Deck of Martinsville; a brother, Matt Deck of Carey, Ohio; three sons, Grant, 15, Oliver, 13, and Fife, 9. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Michael was passionate about spending time with his sons. He enjoyed boating, fishing, Ohio State football and weekend barbecues. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Viewing times are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, with a rosary prior to viewing at 4 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort, Ind. A Catholic rite of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 600 St. Mary's Ave., Frankfort, Ind. Officiant Father Chris Miller presiding.
A graveside service immediately following Mass will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirklin, Ind.
