Mary Evelyn Smith, 90, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2014 at Quaker Heights in Waynesville.

Born July 23, 1924 in Hillsboro, she was a daughter of Gilbert and Anna Siders Caplinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen, in 2002.

She was a 1942 graduate of Wayne Township High School and also Miami Jacobs Business College.

She had worked at Frigidaire and retired from Ledex.

Mary is survived by children, Debbie (Martin) Woodruff of New Vienna and David (Susan) Smith of Wilmington; grandchildren, Brad (Angela) Woodruff, Megan (Dusty) Slivka and Tracy (Mike) Lanker; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kylie, Harper, Larkyn, Claire, Addison and Eli; brother-in-law, Earl Walters, Centerville; nephew, Kim (Vicki) Walters, Bellbrook. And many friends, especially a life long family friend, Mabel Merkle of Wilmington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister, Velma Walters.

The graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the New Antioch Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from noon until 1 p.m. at the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina.
