ELLIOTT, Larry Benson* (The Palm Beach Post)
ELLIOTT, Larry Benson Larry Benson Elliott, 74, of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away on June 21, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He maintained an amazingly positive outlook throughout his battle and fought to the very end. Larry was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to Thomas L. Elliott and Wilma Elliott on July 5, 1941. He attended Pahokee High School in Pahokee, Florida and graduated in 1959. In high school, he was a star football player and was active in the Glee Club. After graduation, he began his career working a number of jobs including milk delivery in South Bay, Florida, dispatcher for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department, and a pest control associate with Orkin. He then pursued a new opportunity in the concrete business, where he would spend the majority of his career. This pursuit began with Rinker Materials in Sunrise, Florida, followed by a move to Charleston, West Virginia, in 1976, to advance his career as Plant Supervisor with Chris and Shaver. He continued to grow in the concrete industry and made another move, 9 years later, to Columbus, Ohio, where he became the Operations Manager with Arrow Concrete. After his retirement from the concrete business, he pursued his true passion of impacting lives. He owned and operated a pool maintenance business in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida that gave him the opportunity to make everlasting friendships. He was a friend of each and every one of his customers and considered many friends to be extended family. Larry was very active in the First Baptist Church in Hobe Sound, Florida and in the Church of Christ in Woodsfield, Ohio. Larry is survived by his daughter Terri Cass (Ron), of West Palm Beach, his son Brian Elliott (Lisa), of Richmond, Virginia, his son Bing Elliott of Columbus, Ohio, and his brother Tom Elliott (Kay) of Stamford, Connecticut. He is also survived by his first-born granddaughter Kristine Elliott Seagraves (Tim) of Charleston, West Virginia, who had that special connection with him and lit up his life. His other grandchildren are Nicholas and Lindsay Elliott of Richmond, and Alexandra and Adam Cass of West Palm Beach. He leaves behind several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas and Wilma. Larry's ashes will be returned to his boyhood home in Pahokee and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held in Shelbyville, Tennessee at a future date that will be announced to family and friends. ERB, Shizuko Kamiya "Suzy"* (The Palm Beach Post)
ERB, Shizuko "Suzy" Kamiya Shizuko "Suzy" Kamiya Erb quietly departed this life Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at her home in Boynton Beach, FL. She was born December 5, 1940 in Delray Beach, the oldest of five children of Toriko Ball and the late Kazou Kamiya. Raised in the Japanese farming community Yamato, Mrs. Erb attended Seacrest High School in Delray Beach and went on to receive a nursing degree. In her career as a nurse for over 30 years, she focused on operating room nursing at Bethesda Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Erb's passion for caring for those in need continued even into her retirement where she spent several days a week helping at local outpatient centers. She found her soul mate and partner for life, Bernard Halbert Erb, at the age of 24 and the couple was united in holy matrimony for 50 years. They were blessed with three daughters and countless beautiful memories. Mrs. Erb was an active member of her church, AORN, and was the devoted family matriarch. Beyond being an ever-present wife, mother and grandmother, she established and hosted many holiday traditions and shared her Christian values of love, patience and kindness with everyone she knew. Mrs. Erb lived life fully through the simple pleasures of enjoying a good meal with friends and spending time with her children, grandchildren and pets. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and raising butterflies. Although fiercely independent, Mrs. Erb had a very generous spirit with a quick wit and a friendly smile that could light up a room. Her influence will forever remain and be cherished in the lives of her family and many friends. Mrs. Erb is survived by her mother, Toriko Ball and three siblings and their families in Florida: Ken Kamiya of Miami, Henry Kamiya of Delray Beach and Sandra Kamiya of Lake Worth. Her sister Sally Kamiya preceded her in death. Mrs. Erb is also survived by three daughters: Lynn Erb of Pembroke, MA and her two children Colin and Tori Newton; Angela and Ross Caranci of Boynton Beach, FL and their son Schyler; Wendy and Todd Jobin of Wellington, FL, and their two sons Lleyton and Donovan. She will also be missed by a host of devoted nieces, nephews and their families as well as many friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on July 1, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Boynton Beach. Memorial gifts in Mrs. Erb's name can be made to the VFW of Boynton Beach.
