To Gary and the Roakes/Keene families: I only recently heard of Lisa's passing. Please accept my deepest sympathies and know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I will always remember Lisa teaching me in Officer Survival. As many know, she was very tough, I only later realized it was because she cared so much. I guess it was only fitting that I had to instruct at Officer Survival the week of her funeral. As much as I wanted to pay my respect, I know she would rather me do so by teaching this week. Thank you Lisa for having such an affect on my life and career, I only hope I can do the same for some young officers. Also, thanks for taking care of Cooper.

Dear Mr. Gary, I know you probably don't remember me but my name is Lisa Mullinax and you and Lesa came to our Relay for Life event in Smyth County in 2006 and Lesa at the time was a survivor! We have all lost a dear soul and such an inspiration to us all to keep fighting until we win this battle against CANCER! Thank GOD that she is no longer suffering! You have been and will continue to be in my prayers. Lisa

I remember the first time I met Lisa and how impressed I was. I was a new civilian employee and she was giving myself & others a tour of the State Police Academy. I later had the pleasure of having her as my immediate Supervisor when I worked at the Academy. She was a true friend and treated me like gold. In 2007 I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself and Lisa gave me a book to help me. This is just another story of her kindness & love to others. I love her & will miss her greatly. I am so sorry for your loss. She is now in Heaven & not in anymore pain.

Mike, Linda, and all of Lisa's family: I didn't know Lisa personally but know she must have been a wonderful lady. Though her life was short, it must have been a full, rewarding and giving life that she so freely shared with all her friends, family and
co-workers. May God bess each of you and bring comfort. My prayers are with you.

Gary my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. I did not know her but know she has touched so many. Lisa's funeral today was one of the most moving services I have attended. Gary, what an outstanding job you did and how proud Lisa would have been of you. Those of us that know where we will spend eternity share Lisa's passion for her Lord and Saviour. What a testament to the life she lived to have so many raise their hands, according to the pastor, and allow Jesus Christ into their hearts as their Saviour. And what a great testament to Lisa for the VSP to bestow the honor on her with the service they supported. And there were LLEA and emergency services agencies from everywhere. You should be so proud. Thanks for the times you two shared with Gary, Faye, Kaye and I when you visited us camping or at the river. I didn't get a chance to speak today because there were so many people. Let me know if I can help in any way. God bless. We will see her again one day! DCA, B&W PD

Lisa was one of the first people I met when I started working at VSP in 2003. She had such spirit and a fun sense of humor. She was very kind to me, and I always looked forward to when she visited. Her journey has been long and she had such a positive attitude despite her condition. She is no longer in pain and will be remembered eternally. It's been raining all day and all of a sudden the sun is out. I would like to think that is her shining down on us. My thoughts are with the all of her family and friends in this time remembrance.

To Lesa and her family and friends,
Lesa was one of the most wonderful people I've ever known. She knew no strangers, only friends she hadn't met. Her convictions were strong, and her heart determined, and her smile never left her face. Her battle is over now and she may rest in peace in a much better place. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. May God comfort you in her passing as He welcomes Her to His side. With deepest sympathies.....

Gary, I am so sorry for your loss. Lesa was such a wonderful, brave person and inspiration to us all. We all have so many wonderful memories of her and she will be in our hearts for all time. Now is the time to grieve but soon we will only remember the great times we shared, such as the memory of her flagging traffic in New York City from the back of the motorcycle and many, many more.

This world is a better place because of her, and that is what it is all about. Her job is done. We can only hope we all could have that impact on this world. Take care.
