Andrew B. Crabtree Andrew Bane Crabtree, 93, of Ceres died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010. Funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 17, at 4 p.m. at the Bland Funeral Chapel. Interment was in the Sharon Lutheran Cemetery. He was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Ceres, son of the late Estel Peter and Hattie Jane Tilson Crabtree. He was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church and the Ceres Alumni Association. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a good neighbor, helping many in the community. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Oliver Crabtree; a son-in-law, Mike Pruitt; three sisters, Bonnie Boothe, Marie Groseclose and Dorothy Riel; and two brothers, Howard Crabtree and infant J.R. Crabtree. Survivors include a daughter, Iris C. Pruett of Ceres; three grandchildren, Michael Andrew Pruett and Erika of Waynesboro, Sarah and Paul Phipps of Ceres, and Erin and Philip Buttery of Bland; two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Andy Blankenship; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Sharon Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Evelyn Groseclose, 860 W. Bluegrass Trail, Ceres, VA 24318. Highland Bland Funeral Chapel in Bland was in charge of the arrangements.
